My Favorite Things: August 2016

Posted by on August 31, 2016 • Filed Under Entertainment, Featured

Today I’m going to mention some of My Favorite Things from this month. This is a monthly link up created by Raisa and Eirene, where we talk about our favorite things (movies, games, books, you name it!) from the current or past month.

Television

Stranger Things

Stranger Things

I haven’t felt this way about a television series in a long time. I fell in love with this series and I am incredibly excited that they officially announced that it has been renewed for a second season. The first season is only eight episodes, and I enjoyed every bit of it. If you have a Netflix subscription, please do yourself a favor and watch it. I’m pretty sure you won’t regret it.

Gaming

Far Cry 3

Far Cry 3

This year, I’ve been participating in a Summer Backlog Challenge. The goal is to set an amount you want to complete during the summer and try to reach the goal. This challenge begun on June 1 and will end on September 30. I’ve already completed 11 games and Far Cry 3 was the last game I finished. I really enjoyed playing it. I love open-world games, and I definitely had fun in this one.

Overcooked

My husband heard about this game from a podcast and we got it when it came out (it was on sale, always a plus!). This game is so fun and addicting! It only has local co-op for now, so we’ve been enjoying sitting in our living room and playing together. It gets harder and harder as you keep finishing levels. We are currently on “world” five if I’m not mistaken. Hopefully we can play some more this weekend!

Tricky Towers

This game was part of Playstation Plus’ Free Games this month. The game is so much fun. Think Tetris, but with gravity and magic! It supports multiplayer and there can be up to 4 players in a round. This game is perfect to play with friends. It can get very frustrating and bring out your inner rage, but it’s part of the fun.

Reading

Looking for Alaska

love reading, but I stopped for a very long time after I got married and worked on getting our home organized. Reading is an anxiety therapy for me so I knew I needed to start reading again. When I stopped, I was halfway through Looking for Alaska by John Green. I’m working on finishing that one and then continue reading some of his other novels (I have one of his collections).

I still have The Maze Runner series unopened, so that’s also on my to-read list. If you have a Goodreads profile, feel free to follow me. Will be updating my profile within the next few days.

Software

Adobe Creative Cloud

I recently got Adobe Creative Cloud and I’m loving all the new features. I mainly use Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro, but definitely want to test out the other programs that are part of the CC collection.

What are are some of the things you’ve been loving this month? Let me know in the comments!

Stranger Things is on my "to-watch" list! I keep hearing so many great things about it. I've also been meaning to play something in the Far Cry series. I'm a big fan of open-world stuff like the Just Cause series, so Far Cry was recommended to me. I've been playing Overcooked too! It's so cute and fun :D We've been playing it when we have people over, and it gets really funny, haha. I haven't heard of Tricky Towers though. That looks fun!

Just Cause 2 is one of my favorite Open World games. If you enjoyed that, then I'm pretty sure you will love the Far Cry series :) If you have Playstation Plus, Tricky Towers was one of the free games offered during last month's lineup.

You're the second person to feature Overcooked on their MFT post :) I think the game looks cool, but I haven't gamed in a while X_X I should remedy that! I'm constantly reading on my Kindle. I've been mostly doing a lot of re-reading because I want something familiar amidst all the crazy changes I've been going through. I only read one John Green's book -- The Fault in our Stars -- and I wasn't enamoured by it to read any more by him. I may give his other books a try, though. The Maze Runner is also on my to-read list, which is far too long X_X
