Jendy’s Homemade Ice Cream

Posted by on October 23, 2014 • Filed Under Food

One of my passions is visiting new places, especially when food is involved. Juan and I heard about this awesome little place that’s known for their homemade ice cream: Jendy’s Heladería Artesanal. They make really unusual flavors like garlic, piña colada, and avocado. That really caught our attention so we decided to take on the hour long ride and visit the place. When you see the place from the outside, you’ll be surprised that it’s so small and you might not pay attention to it if you’re driving by.

Usually, these types of places get overlooked just by the establishment’s physical appearance on the outside. I have learned over time, that most of the restaurants or cafes that I love are nothing special on the outside. When Juan and I opened the door of Jendy’s, we were transported to a magical place. The smell of the different ice cream flavors was intoxicating.

We tried a few different flavors that were delicious, but I ended up getting one scoop of cream cheese ice cream, pieces of banana and homemade whipped cream (it was glorious!). You can see the ice cream I got on the right side of the pictures above. Juan got one scoop of chocolate hazelnut (think nutella ice cream) and one scoop of cream cheese. The ice cream was absolutely delicious and we will definitely visit Jendy’s again.

I have to agree with you! The best places are the holes in the wall, hidden from the world that look mistakenly run down and not very good on the outside. Some of the best food my husband and I have ever had was at these places :) I would be curious to try the avocado ice cream. It just sounds so unusual. All of it looks scrumptious for sure too!

Cream cheese ice cream! That sounds really quaint, but I do love cream cheese and I think that would be a joy to try. It’s awesome that you had such an opportunity. We have a gelato place in the city that does some rather unusual flavours like popcorn and earl grey tea, as well as some others I don’t remember. They change it up every few weeks, so they pretty much become limited edition.

I love visiting new places for food too! I've never heard of garlic ice cream before. Although, my boyfriend's brother did buy an avocado ice cream the other day :o! The ice cream you both got looks masterfully scooped. It looks soooo perfect! Somehow, I can imagine a cilantro or green onion flavored ice cream at this point XD

The ice cream in those pictures looks really good. This place sort of reminds me of a local store that was near me when I lived in Arizona. It always had the best ice cream.
