One of the Boys

Posted by on February 23, 2010 • Filed Under General

Since I was little, most of my friends have been boys. When I was in third grade, my best friend was a boy and we used to play with monster figures and cars during recess. I had friends who were girls, of course, and maybe during elementary school I hung out with them more than my guy friends.

Now, I always hang out with boys, it is understandable because at the university there aren’t a lot of girls studying Computer Science, I’ve had a couple of classes where I’ve been the only girl and 20+ guys. It’s so easy for me to get along with them, and most of them feel the same way about me. A few of them have told me that I’m “one of the boys”, I always laugh because it’s basically true. I like a lot of stuff that guys do: cars, video games, gore, etc.

One of my best friends is a girl. Besides her, all my friends are guys. It feels natural when talking to them, the guys I know are so down to earth and funny. Usually, girls around here are just drama seekers and selfish, I dislike people that act that way. I’m not saying that there aren’t guys like that, I know there are, but it’s easier dealing with them. I love my guy friends so much, they’re awesome!

Do you get along better with the opposite sex? Are most of your friends from the opposite sex?

I find myself to be in the middle. In my journalism classes the higher percentage of students is female, but in my film classes most are male which creates a balance. Outside of College I would say I have a good balance of male and female friends as well. Also, I love Pandas. Lamps too, they're hot. ^_^ .-= Juan Vélez´s last blog ..THE Survival Guide to a Zombie Apocalypse =-.

If I tell you that my French class is all girls and just me and they treat me as one of them (yet still keeping in mind I'm a guy), would you believe me? Ever since I was 13, I've always been surrounded by girls. Sure, I've got lots of guy friends but I always see myself hanging around with the girls. They trust me with their things, their problems. Yes, even girl problems. I might not be a girl, but I do my best to understand these situations. The more I know, the better I can react, the more trust I gain, the more WIN in both our lives. =) .-= ramcosca´s last blog ..So it’s been three years, huh? =-.

I have always got along with boys better than girls. I don't know why. I think because girls try to be so competative on some levels with eachother or its the hormones or something lol .-= nichole´s last blog ..new theme & adjusting =-.

I don't have that many guy friends, but the ones that I am friends with, we're pretty close. I find guys easier to hang out with because they're usually not as manipulative and sensitive as girls, so you can totally be yourself around them and they'd be cool with that. .-= Jenny´s last blog ..UMD ni ikimashou =-.

I've always connected better, and easier, with girls ... I suppose there can be many reasons, but for me it's just that connection and understanding through long conversations ;) I was in nursing for almost 3 years, so there it's obv like 98% girls, so I have more friends that are girls than guys, even before college as well .... dont get me wrong, my guy friends are def best buds, but my friends are def more girls than guys a lot, not all, but a lot of guys are waaaaaaay too worried about only themselves .... apparently they constantly have to prove how "cool" they are, and the size of their ego rivals the size of the freakin universe! then I am completely confused why seemingly all the girls go out with those pricks and wonder why the relationship doesnt work out .... hmm, maybe its coz the guy only cares abour himself and his oh-so-superior ego?! there are a lot of nice and caring guys out there instead of mr. ego >.< anyway, i could rant for a while about that ;P but a very interesting post!! We experience pretty much the flip-side of this in college, Nicole, lol. I enjoyed reading the different takes on this in the posts too! Cool stuff!

You know what? Girls that hang mostly with boys are better than those who stick with the girls. Now that's my opinion. Why? Theres a big probability they won't become drama queens, they are waaay more cool than the rest of the girls, they understand the guys and they are not boring at all because they have more stuff to talk about, even about the most random shit. So youll never go bored with the "one of the boys" kind of girls.
