Photographing a Wrestling Show, Part 2

Posted by on February 26, 2014 • Filed Under Photos

On Saturday night, I photographed an eWo wrestling show for the second time. As much as I enjoy doing it, this time was even more difficult than the first time in terms of lighting and space. The venue was a lot smaller and darker, and since they do these events at night, it is incredibly hard to capture photos without noise. I had to increase the ISO by quite a bit so the photos wouldn’t look so dark.

This time, I focused more on getting action shots. Most of them weren’t perfect because my space was limited but some turned out quite good within my limits. Since these shows are filmed and later televised, I try not to get in the way of the filming crew so I’m not in every shot. Even with the challenges, I really enjoy taking pictures at these events and from my understanding, they want me doing this whenever I’m able to which is great. Usually, the pictures I take are used for their social media accounts and the website.

I only share a few pictures, and usually general ones. This is because I can’t share anything that might hint you who wins until after it’s televised. In wrestling, there are storylines involved so I have to respect that. All in all, I had a very nice time and next month I will be photographing one of their biggest events of the year so I’m excited. I’ll let you know how it goes.

The pictures are pretty cool. I am actually surprised they let you post any of these pictures online, I would have thought they would be copyright of the owners of the league and not be allowed to be uploaded and watermarked by you, only them, but it's cool that as long as you don't spoil anything they let you post it and use it in your portfolio.
