Ripped Off

A few days ago I had my first negative experience with a seller on eBay. I purchased a Microeconomics book I need for my course. I was trying to find it cheap because the book is almost $200. I got very excited when I found a listing for $36.99, so I purchased it immediately. Fast forward two days, and the item hadn’t been shipped. When I log in to eBay I see a message that the listing for that book was deleted. I had been charged already, so I got worried. I filed a dispute immediately and found out that the seller had been deleted as well. He was probably doing the same thing to other people, charging them and not sending the items. It surprised me because I always read the seller’s feedback before buying an item and everything was positive.

The dispute was verified and I got a refund. I bought the book from another listing, it was about $20 more but I can’t really complain, it’s not $180 and I need to have the book ASAP. Turns out they don’t send items directly to PR, so I had to ask a friend in NY to receive it and then send it to me.

This book has given me a few headaches these past few days. I just want to receive it already.

Have you ever had a negative experience when buying online?

Usually I have pretty positive experiences. Only once did something not arrive. The seller was quite good to send another item to me and apologized profusely.

Yeah. I usually never had any problems until now which is why it caught me off guard.
