Extra Life 2016

Note: I’ve had this post written for a while, but between work commitments and some health issues I totally forgot to post it earlier.

During this past¬†Saturday November 5, I participated in Extra Life‘s 24 hour gaming marathon. This was my second year participating in the marathon and I must say that it was such a rewarding experience. Last year, my husband and I divided the marathon into two 12-hour sections. He played for twelve hours and I played for twelve, also streaming it on Twitch.

This year

This year, it was quite different. We invited two of our friends, who are also Extra Lifers, to our house so we could do the marathon together. A few weeks before the marathon, we compiled a list of games we could play as a group, and individually. It was a mix of retro and modern games, so we could have the best of both worlds. We begun the marathon at 9:25 AM, and we were¬†scared that we weren’t going to last the 24 hours. Surprisingly, we did!

The experience was wonderful, we had an amazing time as friends playing video games. But most importantly, we helped raised more than $850 for the kids of the San Jorge Children’s Foundation in just 24 hours. My husband and I will keep participating in Extra Life as long as we can.

If you love video games, and want to help out a cause, Extra Life is a great movement to join. I suggest you look up a local team or guild and get more information as to how you can help out!

If you’d like to donate to my campaign, I would greatly appreciate it. You can do so by visiting this link.
