Today is my third anniversary with Juan. It’s amazing how time has gone by so fast, but at the same time, it has felt like much longer. I’ve always appreciated that our relationship is anything but ordinary. The way we met was completely unexpected, but such a welcome surprise. When I met him, I was going through a hard time and I found someone who I could talk to about anything. Our friendship grew really strong, it was like we had known each other for years. I can be really shy at times, especially when meeting people. With him, it was effortless. I felt comfortable and it was a plus that we had so many things in common (gaming, movies, etc).
These past three years have been absolutely wonderful, the ups and downs have made me grow as a person, and more importantly, as a partner. I have learned more about myself, and the things I want for the future. There have been tough moments, as with any relationship, but we have worked it out as a team. That’s one of the most important things, being there for your partner and staying honest.
Thank you Juan, for these past few years. And here’s to hoping for a bunch more.
My second anniversary with Juan was yesterday. It’s amazing how time has flown by, but at the same time, it seems like it has been more than two years. I’m really grateful to have a partner that is so loving and helpful. I’m really proud of everything’s he’s been doing to help people with mental health conditions, and this is just the beginning.
We celebrated our anniversary on Sunday because I had a lot of school stuff to do on Monday. We went to Macaroni Grill, our mutual friend is a waiter there and we were in one of his tables, it was fun. He even brought the whole staff to sing for us when bringing our desserts, I wish I had my camera to take a picture of Juan’s face, he was so embarrassed. It was a great day, we didn’t want to do anything over the top or go to an expensive place, that’s not really us.
That picture is from our first official date (February 7, 2010). So many great memories, but looking forward to all the new ones to come.
