In the past two years, I had gotten lazy with web design and mostly used templates that I later modified for my layout or theme. I made a promise to myself that I would get more involved with web development and programming this year. I’m a Computer Science student but I admit, I’ve been pretty lazy. I will try to learn more about development and hopefully make some web applications/scripts within the next few months, and create some Java applications, even if I don’t release them to the public. Just knowing that I’m taking some time to code is enough for now.
A few days ago I decided to make a theme from scratch for this blog, and it has been a fun process. I’m using the 960 Grid System and I must say, it’s great. It makes the whole design process so much easier. The theme is coming along great, there are still some components that need styling like the comments and pages, but it’s getting there. I’m also using HTML5 and CSS3 elements, which is awesome. If everything goes as planned, I should be able to release it this week. I want to make sure everything is styled and working properly first.
Do you design your own layouts/themes or do you use premade ones?
