Trip can wait

My boyfriend and I have been planning to go to New York City and San Diego, CA on July for quite some time. I’ve been saving up money for a few months and I have $750 saved up. I should have way more but I had to take out some money from my savings account to pay some stuff. If it weren’t for that, I’d have $1000+. The thing is, as much as I want to go to New York City (it has been my dream since I was little), do I NEED to go this year? Is it something that will make everything better? No.

Don’t get me wrong, a trip to NYC would be amazing, but I believe that good things can wait. We decided to wait another year or two to go, that way, we can save more money and we’ll be more comfortable and ready for our trip. If we went ahead and made the arrangements to go this summer, we wouldn’t have enough money to really enjoy the trip, we would be very limited, and that’s something we don’t want.

Instead, we’ll probably stay at a charming Inn or Hotel for a weekend during the summer, I’m really looking forward to that.

Do you have any travel plans for the summer?

  1. Holding off is the best decision we could make. Realistically, we were going to go on a tight budget and we can still do plenty of things here in the summer, which we’ve already started planning. New York is always going to be there (’till 2012 when we all die of course) and let’s make the most of what we can here. :)
