This past weekend, I went with my girlfriends (and bridesmaids) to Cabo Rojo for a mini-vacation. It was, in their own words, a preview for my bachelorette celebration. We left on Thursday. I was scared about the trip because they had announced a lot of rain during that weekend, so I was hoping that our trip wouldn’t get ruined.
Thank goodness it didn’t. Cabo Rojo is a pretty popular tourist spot in the west area of Puerto Rico. They have several popular beaches, one of them being Playa Sucia. It was a long weekend so we knew that it was going to be hard to get in, so we ended up paying for a shuttle service that left us right at the beach. For some context, to get to the actual beach from the entrance, if you’re walking it will take you around 30 minutes to get there.
When we got to the beach, I knew why people raved about it so much. It’s absolutely breathtaking. The one thing I didn’t like is that there were a lot of rocks when walking in the water, which was a turn-off for me.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed Playa Sucia and hope to visit again very soon. It’s funny how the beach is called Playa Sucia (Dirty Beach in Spanish), because it’s beautiful and clean.
After the beach, we enjoyed some nighttime entertainment at the Boqueron Poblado (town square). They have live music, food and other goodies. We danced and had lots of fun.
It was a good weekend. I definitely plan on going back to Cabo Rojo really soon. It had been years since I last went there so I hope to make it a tradition to go at least once a year.
